GenCon 2020 Game Master
Short summary of the job: Experienced Tabletop Role-Playing Game Masters to run multiple sessions at GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana over a 4 day span. Will be provided with a GM Badge. Must attend RPG Research weekly training and gain diplomas before events.

We need more Game Masters for our upcoming events at GenCon!
REQUIRED: ATTEND 1 TRAINING SESSION PER WEEK AND BE AT GENCON 2020 IN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA BETWEEN JULY 27TH THROUGH AUGUST 3RD.
Candidates must attend at least one training session per week (4 hours each), and be available at GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana. If unable to attend training in person, training can be provided remotely, but during GenCon itself you must attend in person (GenCon badge will be provided).
Our senior trainers have more than 40 years RPG experience, plus over 35 years of research and evidence-in-practice on how to optimize the RPG experience. Our founder has been a paid professional GM since 1983.
GenCon 4-day pass provided to Game Masters that provide at least four 4-hour sessions of full tables (4-6 players per session). This means you'll be free the rest of the days to enjoy GenCon!
Game Masters will be on rotating shifts of 4 hours, so that you will have appropriate breaks and not burn-out.
Our programs have been featured at GenCon, WorldCon, SpoCon, ZoeCon, VICE, Twitch, Youtube, and more!

Since 1983, RPG Research's founder has been studying the effects of music and role-playing games, and their potential to improve lives, through our research, live streams, recorded media content, online training, and community programs.

Reports To: Programs Director
Days/Hours: Part-time, 4+ hours/week for training. 8+ hours per day during GenCon event. Some flexibility on which days and times..
Training schedules may vary, but example days/times available (attend one per week) (Pacific time):
Sundays 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Mondays 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Saturdays 1 pm to 5 pm]
Note: RPG Research's training diplomas are applicable toward the Certified RPG Professional certifications offered by RPG Therapeutics LLC.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Prepare and run tabletop RPG sessions at various locations at GenCon convention.
Typically 3-6 players per session.
Maintain compliance with GenCon Code of Conduct.
Maintain compliance with RPG Research's rules and guidelines, including GM Code of Conduct.
Complete assessment forms when appropriate.
Prepare character sheets for participants to choose from.
Run adventures ranging from "one shots" to multi-session adventures.
Address any group interpersonal issues, and maintain players compliance with RPG Research Player Code of Conduct.
Attend either in-person or remote training at least one session per week (4 hours)
Complete self-training materials (videos, essays, assignments, etc.)
Complete quizzes/tests (usually at training session).
Demonstrate excellent work ethic through regular timely attendance and regular communication.
Must pass background check before allowed to work with clients. (May begin in-lab training before background check completion).
Comprehensive knowledge of role-playing game system rules.
Assertive (not aggressive) presence with confident but warm, friendly, empathetic, and compassionate communication style.
Plan on a minimum 6 month commitment
Okay with being on camera for live streaming (we live-stream most of our training sessions)
Optional but helpful:
Experienced theatrical acting skills
Effective voice acting skills
Experience working with children
Experience working with special needs or at-risk populations of all ages
Experience volunteering in community or school settings
Experience with gaming conventions
* Formats include: tabletop (RPG / TRPG / TTRPG), live-action (LRPG / Larp), electron / computer-based (ERPG / CRPG), and hybrids (HRPG) such as solo adventure books and modules (SABM).
